Casinos ready luxury salons

MGM MIRAGE Inc.’s MGM Grand and Park Place Entertainment Corp.’s Caesars Palace each plan to open private gambling rooms in the fall. Such salons had been illegal in Nevada, where state law requires gambling to be public and accessible to regulators. But in 2001, the Nevada legislature heeded the cries of casinos struggling to compete with private salons overseas and voted to allow the closed-door rooms. “The persuading argument was there was a whole potential market of players that would not otherwise come to Vegas,” says Dennis Neilander, chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

The board authorized the first private gambling room, at the MGM Grand in June. It will require private salons to operate around-the-clock video surveillance cameras, so that regulators in their offices can observe the play in real-time.

Private gambling is the most deliberate effort so far by U.S. casinos to harpoon more “whales,” players with $500,000 in cash or credit who fuel casinos’ lucrative high-end games, where betting starts at $500. The Strip has been losing international whales for years to private casinos in burgeoning gaming markets such as Macau, Australia and elsewhere in Southeast Asia. For Caesars Palace and the MGM casinos, where high-end play contributes as much as 25% of revenues, overseas competitors have made the game even more volatile and risky.

Whales nearly disappeared from the Strip after Sept. 11 brought travel complications; with the stock market sputtering, they are staying away. Bear Stearns analyst Jason Ader estimates that high-end gaming by international players in Las Vegas is down 15% to 20% this year, still not fully recovered from the 75% plunge in September. Money wagered at baccarat tables — most popular with Asian high rollers — was down 62% in June compared with a year earlier, the Nevada gaming board says; casinos’ baccarat winnings for June were down 84%.

Undaunted, the MGM Grand is still hunting whales. It is remodeling its Mansion Casino wing and expects to start offering private gambling there in September. Among the changes: thick doors to keep oglers out. (Casino executives note, however, that even in high-roller …

Benny binion’s Ligaz11 Dream

The history of Benny Binion and The World Series of Poker

Lester Ben Binion later known worldwide as “Benny,” was born November 20, 1904, near Pilot Grove (1904 population: 150), Grayson County, Texas, the son of Lonnie Binion and the former Alma Willie Wilkerson.

Benny didn’t stay long in Pilot Grove. A restless boy, at age six he punched cows and traded horses. Literally, he grew up under the big Texas sky, sitting around campfires at night listening to the cowboys swap stories, watching them play cards.

From 1922 to 1946, Benny stood in the heart of Dallas, Texas, gambling, first as a “steer man;” guiding customers to his boss’ crap games, later as the man who ran them. Prominent customers included H.L. Hunt, Howard Hughes, and Sid Richardson.

Benny moved to Las Vegas in January 1947, with his beloved wife, Teddy Jane, and their five children: Barbara, Jack, Brenda, Ted, and Becky. He owned the Las Vegas Club and the Westerner before opening in 1951 what became the internationally famous Benny Binion’s Horseshoe. A true pioneer in Las Vegas, Benny helped transform a dusty, desert nowhere of 18,000 souls into a world entertainment capital with a one million plus population.

Benny supported numerous worthy charities, but also, on his own, came to the rescue of thousands of people – mostly the old and children – with his largesse.

A marketing genius (prestigious university business schools teach his methods), Benny drew more than a million people to the Horseshoe with a display, (which unfortunately is no longer there), of $1 million cash (It was 100 ten thousand dollar bills), next to which all the locals and tourists enjoy being photographed. Benny also brought the enormously popular, always sold out, National Finals Rodeo to Las Vegas, and the pulse stopping nationally televised World Series of Poker, offering millions in prize money, to his own ligaz11 casino.

Today Benny Binion’s Horseshoe stands as a bustling monument to its legendary founder. A mixture of the old (one can imagine Wyatt Earp and Wild Bill Hickock gambling here) and the new bedazzle its …

“It’s simply a way of thanking the players that have chosen The Safari Casino since we opened our doors in 1997.”

Pragmatic Gambling with msnTV

msnTV, also called interactive TV or WebTV, allows people to surf the Net on their television. A small receiver is hooked up to a dial-up Internet connection and transmits the incoming signal to the television. It’s been around for a while now, and is popular with people who don’t want a computer or can’t figure out how to turn one on.

You can do a fair bit with msnTV, but unfortunately you can’t play at a lot of online casinos because the msnTV receivers aren’t able save a casino software package like a regular computer. That means msnTV gamblers have to play no-download games. Big deal, you say. There are plenty of no-download casinos out there, right? Well, sort of.

In addition to the whole download issue, msnTV is unable to handle the Java applications that run many no-download casino games. Microsoft, which purchased WebTV in 1997 and changed the name to msnTV, has been saying since 1999 that it plans to make the service Java-compatible, but very little has happened since that time. That leaves you with no-download Shockwave Flash or HTML games, and there are far fewer of these casinos at the moment.

Most sites offer either download games or no-download games but not both because of the development costs associated with what amounts to building a second casino. Some no-download sites offer HTML and / or Java games, but the HTML graphics and game quality are usually pretty rudimentary and as mentioned, Java is out for msnTV users. Because of all that, Flash games are about the only viable option for online wagering if you’re surfing with msnTV.

Microgaming offers one of the leading Flash Pragmatic casino packages, and about half of Microgaming’s licensees have no-download Flash games. The selection of games isn’t as extensive as in the download version, but the quality is good, you can play for real money, transactions are secure, and you can play the progressive jackpots. That makes selected Microgaming licensees, such as RiverBelle Online Casino and 7 Sultans Casino, a good starting point for msnTV-compatible casinos; other casinos that offer Flash …

George’s QQ Online Pkv Premiership Predictions

Leicester City are just a win away from lifting their first ever Premier League title and they could do it in style when they visit Manchester United on Sunday.

Tottenham’s home draw with WBA on Monday night after the Tigers had thrashed Swansea at the weekend means that Leicester are now in poll position.

United are hardly easy prey as they are still in the chase for a top four finish as they strive to overtake Manchester City or Arsenal to confirm Champions League football next season.

Liverpool face Southampton away in an intriguing fixture while at the bottom there are crunch games for Newcastle at home to QQ Online Pkv Cup finalists Crystal Palace (surely a home win with the Eagles’ eyes on Wembley) and Sunderland at Stoke. Norwich play Arsenal away and will be hoping that some of the home support’s disillusion with Arsene Wenger’s management affects the home team – a factor Wenger says has cost his time the title.

Seoul Back Down To Earth Before Toto Hk Gamba Game

South Korea’s two best teams had nights to remember in the opening round of Asian Champions League and face very different tests on matchday two this week. FC Seoul and Suwon Samsung Bluewings have also had mixed fortunes in the fledgling K-League season so far.

Seoul’s early season form got the headline writers in Korea far too excited. The capital club did impress by winning the first game at Chunnam Dragons by six goals to one. No K-League team scored six in the whole of 2008. Here was Seoul doing it on the first afternoon of the season.

Then coach Senol Gunes took his team to deepest Toto Hk Sumatra to play Sriwijaya of Palembang on Tuesday in the Asian club competition. In front of a passionate local crowd and temperatures a good deal higher than those left behind, the Koreans won 4-2. In truth the game was a little easier than the scoreline suggests. Only at 3-0 and with the end in sight did Seoul’s concentration waver.

Ten goals in two game led to headlines that were premature even by Gwanghwamun’s standards. “Gunes’ magic” went some and others were equally complimentary. The coach was quick to say that there was still a long way to go.

The last time he was lauded so early in the season was in 2007. Just after his arrival he led Seoul to three successive wins at the start of the season. Finally, the media said, here is a foreigner who can make a difference. Seoul then scored just one goal in the next nine matches.

If Gunes wasn’t keeping feet on the ground before last weekend, he is now. New K-League team Gangwon FC shocked the host by winning 2-1 on Saturday in a very chilly Seoul World Cup Stadium. The late goal caused scenes of unbridled joy among the orange-clad followers of the eastern club and also put the team on top of the league.

Gunes may be regretting his decision not to start with stars such as Ki Sung-yung, Lee Chung-yung, Kim Chi-woo …

FC Seoul Are Out And Judi Online Deposit Pulsa Senol Gunes Is Off

With the benefit of hindsight it was written in the stars that FC Seoul’s season would end last Saturday after losing to Chunnam Dragons in the first round of the K-league’s championship play-offs.

Seoul thought they shouldn’t have needed to play Judi Online Deposit Pulsa the match at all. The capital club spent the whole season slugging it out with Jeonbuk Motors at the top of the K-League and expected to go straight to the final, or at least, the semi-final.

That all changed on the last day of the season as Seoul conceded a last-minute goal at home to Chunnam Dragons. That 1-1 tie saw Seoul slip into third. That finish meant Seoul had to negotiate the entire play-off series.

As luck would have it, the first play-off opponent was Chunnam. And Chunnam was the last. For Seoul, it is very much a case of what might have been. For much of the season, the red-and-blacks looked the likeliest champion but when the push came to the shove, the team didn’t quite have the indefinable quality that champions need – the ability to dig in and fight for everything.

The game again finished 1-1 after 90 minutes. Seoul’s penalty area was the least crowded place in the whole city after 12 minutes and Chunnam striker Lee Gyu-ro took advantage to fire a fierce shot low into the home net. Three minutes later however, Seoul drew level. A delightfully measured slide-rule pass from Ki Sung-yong gave Jung Jo-gook an easy chance from close range.

The excitement didn’t last and the game drifted towards penalties. Two Seoul players missed the target completely – Kim Sung-yung and, dismally, Lee Jong-min. Ki Sung-yong saw his kick well-saved. It was the last action for Ki in the Seoul shirt. He has already signed for Scottish giants Celtic in a $4 million deal and heads to Glasgow at the end of the year.

Kwak Tae-whi scored the winning penalty. The international defender has spent much of the season battling injury but was fresh as a daisy as …
